Immigration thesis

The Herodians of Jerusalem may also have been the dynastic family branches from Herod’s marriages to the Hasmonean princess Miramne, Miramne daughter of Simon, a priestly family, and Cleopatra of Jerusalem, and were looking for a Herodian/Hasmonean heir for the throne of Jerusalem.
The Hasmoneans were descendents of the Maccabbees who were an Aaronide high priest clan who righteously rebelled against Antiochus IV in defense of faith and religious freedom, and their descendents went on to finally win complete independence from the Seleucid empire, and founded the Kingdom of Judea.
