A good exemplification essay’s topic should be argumentative. They must have two arguable sides just like argumentative essays. Each topic researches the supportive and opposing viewpoints. Writers don’t have to agree always with the general argument in the essay. But they have to explain their opinion. It is good way to finish the topic with the question mark. Some good examples for topics are: “University Degree in today’s society?”, “Enough sleep and memory?”, and “Sex and the fertility?” The simple one topic can also be in game. Here are some examples: “Optimism vs. Pessimism”, “Future goals of students”, “summer or winter”, “Full- or part-time jobs”
Exemplification as a way of essay writing can improve reader’s knowledge and mind development. Writers maybe have more difficult job to do. But the more examples they find they will be a day more free of dementia in the future.
The exemplification essay should be carefully planned to avoid getting off topic. To do this, many writers find it useful to begin with a prewriting technique called clustering. In clustering, a writer begins by jotting down the problem in the center of the page. In the home robbery example, the writer would write "causes of home robbery" in the center of the page. Then, the writer jots down the various causes for home robberies surrounding the main cause. Finally, the writer can draw lines to make connections between interrelated ideas, such as lack of an alarm system and lack of surveillance cameras.
